The Curtain Raiser

Ahmedabad is bringing home its own red carpet. To know that it will be rolled out to the works of the likes of Frederico Fellini, Louis Malle and Fatih Akin along with the current top notches of the celluloid is a remarkable feat achieved in pinning the city to the world cinema map. With the city being home to several globally acknowledged artists, filmmakers, photographers and creative minds being prepared by the renowned institutes of learning, the Ahmedabad International Film Festival 2009 will give a panoramic view of the world’s best in cinema.

There is a lot to expect at the extravagant event in May this year. Apart from the red carpet being graced by the know-how’s and who’s-who of the industry, the film festival envisages to showcase the best from the Cannes, Berlinale and Tampere Film Festival, Finland. However, the focal point will remain to provide a platform to the independent filmmakers from across the globe.

We are looking at an audience of diverse interests within the gamut of filmmaking- established and upcoming filmmakers, art connoisseurs, artists, film buyers and enthusiasts and the decision makers of the global filmmaking trends, not to forget the paparazzi. However, we do not intend to be blinded by the flash lights. True to our roots, our commitment remains to bring the magic of cinema and storytelling to the daily viewer.
